... Thinking about it further... i see what you mean by "changes the effective size of the sprocket ", as when the short portion of the ellipse is up and down, it's as if you were pedaling a smaller chainring, and the "extra chain" is taken up by the fact that the chainring is now longer...
I don't think it can change the gearing, as the number of teeth remains the same. But since the chainring is elliptical, changing the pin location will change where on the ellipse the power stroke lies... I think... uhm, hmm.
Plenty of surface rust, some original paint left. Original fasteners included, but the threads are weak. This is from a ladies model, but they aren't too tough to modify to fit a mens frame.
63 pages. Re-printed 25 years ago and long out of print and unavailable, one last batch was found and are now being offered for sale. When they're gone, they're gone! Includes all the coolest brands... Indian, Excelsior, Flying Merkel. Covers motorcycles and bicycles, both complete bikes and...
Very Aerocycle'ish! Would make a great stand-in until you find the real deal. Body is made of aluminum, lens is glass. No idea what company made this and when.. anybody know?
It may be an aftermarket replacement wheel. The profile of the rim looks like a Schwinn S-7, but Schwinn always used black pinstripes on their painted rims, and the hub is not Schwinn either.
Thanks Adrian!
Yes, J 10 on the frame, and L3 on the hub. Interesting about the upside down W!
I don't know the history of this bike, nor does the person I got it from. I got a lead on it last summer, which finally panned out yesterday. Found in Eastern Washington State.
I've done the Google Street View thing a few times on zero feedback buyers when the sale price was in the hundred$, just to re-assure myself. There are scammers on both sides of the resale game, so it's good to check it all out like this before you ship. @StingrayRider If you look at the...

Awesome for the swap meet table! Put your old catalogs, magazines, books etc that you might be offering for sale at the bike swap in it. Compresses down to a small size for easy transport.
It's already pretty hard to vet new members without making it difficult for them, and us. But if AI bots end up flooding forums, we'll be forced to do something more extreme... I dread the thought of it!
Update to rule #6 to include clarification for going over the post limit. This limit is per forum, so you can have 10 in Parts, 10 in Complete, etc.
There is a 10 post per day limit in each buy sell trade forum. This is 10 posts total, bumps count toward the 10 posts. If you have more items for...
Welcome to the CABE! That's a great bike! Pierce bicycles are sought after by many collectors. This is a "Truss Frame" model, which is one of the rarest frame styles for Pierce. The original paint and condition add significantly to it's value, quite a bit more than if it were restored.
They just get buried many pages deep, so these shouldn't be a problem. Of course, ideally everyone will mark them SOLD, or WITHDRAWN instead of just abandoning them.
I understand, and in the past we've done this, sending a message first, but when this kind of thing happens nearly every day, it gets tiring. Since veteran Cabers should already know the rules, we just have to delete it and move on to the next thing.
