Thanks Hotrod and Scrubbin, Yes I am looking for a Mens version, I am considering and have seen 2 fully restored, but really want an original. I would also like it near mint, but a decent original may work... Everything is negotiable.
Do you know where I can find this Monark? I will pay $2500 or more for a near mint all original... I am a Monark Collector... I have had many of them, But this is the one I have alway wanted. Thank you for reading.
Would prefer in mint but please send me photos of what you have. Must be the one with the chrome fenders and original as possible regardless of conditon. Must be the Hungarian built frame. Thank you :)

Pee Wee's girlfriend Dotty in the movie had that exact bicycle down to the make and model.... I believe hers had a bit more white in it.... But What a Super bike...
It wasn't my intent to be rude or make it seem like there was no interest... My thing is.. I don't like when someone goes "I have a classic, What's it worth" and then it turns out to be a rusty girls bike... All of them are worth something parted out... Then take all the girls frames down to...
From time to time and in different regions certain models may have had certain names although it is the same basic bike... It appears to be very similar to the 24" Monark "Junior" Deluxe. But a good way to check for sure is by model number... Plus if it is 55 or later than it may have been a...
That is a 1948 Monark... Brown, Cream, and Gold was a very popular color for that year. The 47 had a different paint job altogether and the rear reflector didn't have a beveled stripes down the center... The 1949 was the first year for the Tombstone rear reflector. There is a great picture of...
I picked up that bike in San Diego for him... It is a really cool bike and could be something really special if restored.. I know for me, It's purely a preferance thing... It's just not a Monark.. :D
It is truly unfortunate that there were problems with that sale... But I don't think the Forum is the right place to address disputes like this... I don't know either of you gents. But I do know many of the Collectors in California on a first name basis. I have bought bikes from some of the guys...
I was going to say it sounds like a Firestone 500... But was it a Middleweight? But if the was 13 in the 60's it wasn't a Monark Built Firestone... I'm thinking it may even be a lightweight with one of those college book holders... AMF built maybe?
Okay.... Is that the Original rack? Can you post a picture of a direct over view... My Guess is that bike is a 53-54 and that would mean the rear rack needs the battery pack, and the turn signal plate... It is the same shape as the Chesse grater, but a little different.. I'll try and find a...
The right one...
The Cheese Grater wasn't availible for the Ben Hur.... It was phased out in 52-53... After 53 they went to the turn signal style plate instead of the Cheese grater... and even later was a completely different rear rack altogether... It had no plate in the back and was more...
Appears to be late 40's to early/mid 50's ... Is it a 24" or 26" .. Could you post more pictures...(full side view, Hub, and tires) Thanks, You have my attention...
Ben Hur
This bicycle is a Monark built bicycle from the late 50's and was then later bought by Huffy in 57... It has the Monark Springer fork... My speculation is that when huffy took over Monark that it sold the remainder of the monark surplus under different names... Middleweights were...
I plan to be out there... I will be parking in Crown point and riding around Mission Bay and out to the boardwalk to partake in the bars... I will be accompanied by 6 or 7 of my Bretherein from the Chopaderos Outlaw Bicycle Club. So I won't have any classics with me. But will ride will all of...
I don't know middleweights very well... But I do know that that is a Firsetone 500... and Firestone would switch manufacturers in an effort to have the next up and coming style bike with their name on it.
I love powder coat... Looks great in an engine compartment or underneath a car. I have even done several late 50's tanks bikes in factory colors but powdercoated. But "White" what's up with that!!! ha ha... and it's clearly the wrong bike to powder.... Some people don't get it... He just made...
