I found a 20 inch 36 spoke rim with a Bendix 2 speed red band kickback mounted. It looks Oem ( not Schwinn). This has me wondering what bike this would have come on. The rim is wide enough to fit a balloon tire. Did any muscle bikes come with this combo or is this a custom build.
Looking to replace the brake pads on my rod brake equipped English build lightweight. This is a late thirtys something bike that was branded as an Elgin and sold through Sears locations. It has an early Sturmey Archer AW hub with patent applied for stamped where the date of the hub is usually...
I ran across this add from 1963 showing a 15 speed Schwinn Sierra. Appears to be a top of the line bike. I never have seen one.was this a misprint or was it replaced by another model?
Is there a preferred way to adjust the tension on the bottom bracket bearings with the Schwinn one piece crank? I typically use the Lucas red grease. I set mine just tight enough so there is no wobble felt when pushing the crank arm side to side. What say you?
I picked up this barn find tourist with bar tape on the upright handlebars. It appears to have been there since new. Was this a factory install or a bike shop mod? Also, did all tourist Varsity’s have fenders. thanks!
I’m posting a bunch of pics hoping someone can help me figure out what I have. It’s been repainted black years ago over the original orange color. It appears the fork is from a different bike. Interesting head badge looks to be original. Stamping under bottom bracket is very unusual. Thanks in...
I apologize in advance for asking. I’m considering selling my little 20 inch dx pig bike and am looking for a realistic figure. It has really nice patina and rides like new. Paint is og with touch ups on the chain guard
I have a bike that I am thinking of selling. It has what I believe to be a Schwinn mini stingray seat in very nice condition. This is the one with the molded cover stretched over the pan. Are these seats and sissy bars worth much? Thanks
Per request, I am posting additional pics. Hopefully more can be learned about my bike. I have it on a stand now so please feel free to ask for any detail pics that may be helpful. Thanks
I never imagined how complex it would be to Id a teens bike. My research took me to the Wheelman site where they had a list of over 2000 bikes. None were mine. I have spent hours on line and on this site learning the subtleties that would lead me to my bikes original maker. So here goes again...
I’ve had this bike for about 15 years now with no idea what it is. The seat is incorrect and I added the lamp but that’s it. Searches have produced no results
I need to remove the Shimano ff freewheel to get at the spokes. I can’t figure out which freewheel tool to use. The Park 1.3 is for the 85 and up freewheel and is too big. On line instructional videos refer to the older Shimano tool, no part number given. Any ideas? These ff systems were used on...
I have a set of handlebars exactly like the ones on the bike in the attached pictures. What are these bars called? We're they exclusive to a certain brand? Aftermarket? BTW the bike is not mine, but is posted on Craig's list Cleveland Ohio Thanks.
I picked this up at a Barn sale. Being a Schwinn guy, I need to learn about what I have here and what I need to find to bring this back to life. No head babe.
A little off subject. I have 2 vintage Blackhawk floor jacks that are in need of new internal seals. Has anyone had any success in getting old floor jacks re-built. Thanks
I will be painting an old Sting Ray that is Cool Lemon (bright Yellow). Does anyone have any suggestions about obtaining the correct color paint. Do any big box spray cans match up? Any auto store colors? Thanks!
I am in the market for a new chain breaker tool. I want something I can use on my single speed chains and my 10 speeds. I want to buy a good one, any recomendations or suggestions, thanks.
When I first got started in the hobby, my favorite reference book was " Evolution of the bicycle volume 2" I saw a lot of really nice balloon bicycles owned by Steve Castelli. I was wondering if anyone knows him or if he is still in the hobby. Just curious, no specific reason.

I wonder how much is dirt and how much is rust.
Someone used some imagination when they built this bike. Based on the license sticker this was built in the 60's. Is that a Raleigh Dynohub?

Any idea what the chainguard on the bike in the picture is worth? My friend has one and I do not want to pay an unfair price. btw the bike in the picture is just an example, not mine. Thanks
After almost a year of work my 1947 Whizzer "H" is done. I was able to locate a NOS set of Allstate tires to add a nice touch. The bars are Torrington 30 inch "Texas longhorns" and the seat was re-done with a slightly worn look. The frame is also of 1947 vintage, but I went with an older paint...
There is a seller on Ebay that seems to have a neverending supply of nice vintage bicycles. His name is Shadow27 and he is from Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Does anyone here know about this seller? He seems to be the biggest bicycle seller on Ebay and I was wondering if there is a good story behind this
I cannot figure out how to remove the spark plug wire on my H model Whizzer. I bought a new wire and was told that a screw holds the wire in and I need to remove a plug from under the coil and loosen the screw. I removed the plug and there was no screw. ??????????????????
