    1954 Schwinn Jaguar

I'm surprised someone has jumped on this.

Jade Green 1955 Jaguar (together again!)

After 1954/'55, the Jaguars were middleweight bikes with smaller tires. I think the dropout spacing was different also.

    question on 1955 schwinn phantom

Here is a picture of my '54 Phantom. It should be the same as a 1955.

    1954 Schwinn Jaguar

I didn't restore this Jaguar. It was restored by Samuel Adams of Goshin, Indiana. Thanks!

    1954 Schwinn Jaguar

For your consideration is a 1954 Schwinn Jaguar in excellent condtion. The only parts I'm aware of that are not OEM are the acorn nuts on the underside of the seat, the Schwinn Typoon tires and the newly replaced cables. http://www.flickr.com/photos/20832064@N03/sets/72157631118823730/detail/...

Flea market and swap meet etiquette

I've found some sellers at swapmeets don't have a problem selling to the highest bidder. In some case they couldn't care less if someone offered a higher price than the next guy regardless of who got there first. That old saying. "you snooze you lose."

Can't you be a cranky young fart?

    AS Bolt Seat Clamps

What is being called a stamp is most likely a die that was used buy a die press and not stamped by hand.

    Restored 1959 Tiger middleweight

That's a very nice job. I've been looking for a similar project myself. I would rather have a balloon tire bike though.

    Schwinn LeTour

I've got a 1974 Schwinn Le Tour frame I've been thinking about building.

Anyone familar with a Raleigh Technium?

Thanks! I ended up buying a set of Dia-Compe pads that work great.

Phantom pulls hard to the left?

I realize you may not want to put anymore into the bike than needed but it difficult to diagnose an issue until all of the mechanical dynamics have been corrected. I would start with the front axle. Possible if you have another wheel and tire you could install? Or, mount this wheel and tire...

Phantom pulls hard to the left?

Could it be missing some head tube bearings or the bearing race with excessive wear?

    work stand

That would be a great inexpensive work stand. It seems like it wouldn't be very difficult to adapt a standard type bike stand clamping device to it. The only drawback I can see is that it would take up a lot of space in my case.

The New Trend in Old Bikes?

I think the group bike activities and participation is a great idea. Unfortunately I live in an area where there isn't much bike riding or places to ride.

Restore or Preserve? What would YOU do? Why would you do it?

How about donating it to a bicycle musium.

Anyone familar with a Raleigh Technium?

Does anyone have a Raleigh Technium that can tell me what brand and style the brake pads are? I've got maybe an '80 model that's in really good condition but it doesn't have brake pads or a chain and I want to get it back on the road so I can give it to a local kid.

I have a question about Phantom serial numbers

Forgive my persistence here but I'm not sure my question was answered. There's no question this bike has been restored. I've had 3 people that claim to be a Schwinn bike aficionado that have actually looked at this bike. 2 of which say it's a 1952. The other said it's a 1954 model. By reviewing...

To part Out or Not to Part out?..that is the question

The bottom line is, if the extra money is more important than the nostalgic quality and value then so be it.

    Handlebar Tape for loose Grips

I found that the original grips on my '54 a little loose when I first got it. I pulled the grips off and cleaned the handlebars and the inside of the grips with Simple green and then used a heat gun to warm up the grips. When I finished the grips went on good and tight.

Why i should'nt buy middle weights!

I didn't think you could mount 26 x 2.125 tires and wider rims on a middleweight frame.

    Please show your panther

I see you don't have the correct screws that fasten the braces and the rear light to the rack. I found the correct SS screws at Gardner Westcott.

Monark? What Headbadge Would be Correct?

The fender braces look flat to me.
