I just made a great find. At least that’s how I feel. Next to finding a 1959 Schwinn PANTHER II. Next best is a 1959 Schwinn Debutante with dual metal lights. Anyway can this taillight is original to the bike?? Look at the picture please. Any help appreciated.
I realize what you want, but for the life of me I can't understand the logic. For practical reasons I recommend a 70's 5-Speed like mine. Just my opinion. PS You can add a tank if you wish, but I wouldn't recommend it. Good luck.
It's just my opinion........BUT......financially it doesn't make much sense to change that much on a ORIGINAL Schwinn. Like others said start with a lighter tandem from the start. Sorry I have a love for original looking bikes.
I laugh when I hear prices of bicycles prices from the mid-west. For example one of the post a guy asked is $250.00 ok for a beautiful Green Corvette. Here in California, that is a $500 to $600 bike all day long. I just have to laugh and shake my head. It's all I can do :)
May I suggest you please remove the rear rack on the white vette. I don't mean to tell you what to do. I just like to see the bikes how they were offered by Schwinn. No offense please.
Thanks to all of you that restore all the old Schwinns that will never show a profit, but for the love of the bikes. We would never have so many great bikes out there. We are just caretakers of these bikes for a short time. Thanks Paul
There is a deal on Ebay for you Middle Weights. As long as your near Oklahoma. There is a 59 Panther II in great shape for $225.00. If I was close I would pay full price no problem. Just a FYI
My Red Jaguar
My Jaguar up above is is one of my Prize bicycles to me. The main reason is because its a Two Speed all original. Nothing at all has been replaced or redone. The previous owner had it hanging on the wall in his Billiard Room for 27 years. The tires are original and all cracked haha.
I may be wrong.....
I thought only the Deluxe American had chrome fenders with a fender light. Regular American's had painted fenders. I could be wrong.
Your bikes are nice BUT......
That Schwinn American has a great front rack, fenders, light that are nice looking, but are incorrect for the bike. Don't mean to be nit picking, just in my nature. Otherwise they are all great bikes. enjoy.
no expert
I have two phantoms. I do not claim to be a expert, but I have never heard of phantoms with painted fenders at all. Is it possible that Schwinn or a dealer would make a special version for a VIP or celebrity? Why not!
My two cents
That is a nice Corvette. The Problem with the value is a few things. First you are missing the Headlight, Front Rack. Also the bike looks like it's only a SINGLE SPEED. Most high end Corvettes came with a two or three speeds and the rare 5-speeds. Depending in where you live in the...
Well......
Always nice to see pictures of bikes we are talking about. Whenever I here the word restore, I always like to remind members that bikes are only original once. Whatever you choose good luck with your project.
