Alot of the adhesive backed vinyl is installed wet - with water and a little liquid soap. It allows for positioning of the vinyl after it is placed on the surface - like the wood grained vinyl used on station wagons of the 70's !
Another One !
I have the exact same frame as yours, and mine is missing the headbadge also. Chainring, crank, frame lugs, are identical. The only thing different are the seat stays - mine are straight with no curve, but with the same type of manufacture. A very tall bike with large diameter...
That bicycle was manufactured by the Excelsior Co. in Michigan City, Indiana which was later bought out by Snyder. The 2 Excelsior Companies were different and not related to each other.
I have a pair of new old stock 26X1.375 GoodYear Tires for your vintage restoration. Tires have never been mounted.
Price $200. plus shipping. I purchased these for a Schwinn lightweight project, but it never happened. A hard to find tire size in any condition. If interested, send me your email...
N.O.S. Goodyear 26x1.375 Tires
okozzy - Did you find tires for your bike ? I have a set of new old stock Goodyear 26x1.375 tires, that I was going to use on an old lightweight Schwinn project, but I traded it away. I believe the sidewall says Goodyear Rib Nylon 3T, and it has the old tread...

Early Peerless Bicycle
Hey - I think your bike is an early Peerless ! Peerless used that exact chainring and also the ribbed fork. Are there any headbadge holes in the headtube, or signs of holes filled in ?
Dennis
That sprocket goes on a bicycle called "Norman". I have a 3 speed English type bike with this very detailed sprocket and it is badged Norman. Mine is probably a 50's bike - Dennis
Great looking Colson ! Is that chainguard correct for the bike ? The reason I ask is that I have a 1937 Colson Packard (missing front fork & fenders) with that same guard. I thought it might be a generic chain guard on mine.
Good luck on your sale !
