Deven Seymour and his wife Kristine will be hosting another NorCal Vintage Bike Ride in Sacramento CA on Saturday April 27th, 2024. All are welcome yet vintage bikes are encouraged. Meet at 9-9:30am. Kickstands up at 10am and our hosts will lead us on an easy 12 mile round trip ride… all pretty...
Can you guys fill me in on “hunter green”. I’m familiar with the Schwinn coach green, spitfire green, opal green, radiant green, lime green, and campus green, but was hunter green a Schwinn color name?
It’s the nut and screw in your first pic. There is a serrated wheel that rotates and rubs against that screw and diaphragm when you push the plunger down. Adjusting that screw will set that amount of “rub” from the serrated wheel.
Here’s some pics from yesterday’s St Patrick’s Day ride in Lodi (Sorry for all the selfie’s) Thanks to Mike, Chris, and everyone else involved in organizing and keeping the COBOA and Rolling Relics rides going.

When I was a kid, about 12yrs old (1975), I flew from California to the Midwest (1800mi?) with my Dad to visit family/cousins for a week or so. I got to bring my BMX bike as boxed luggage. I don’t recall if it was an extra cost or not, yet at one stop it did come tumbling out on the luggage...
Eric, I think they were just commenting on the color since you advertised the guard as a 1963 1964, and yet that Campus Green color wasn’t available on the Sting Ray until 1968.
@PlasticNerd did you happen to catch the asking price on that black convertible Impala? It was one of those "I'm never gonna sell it, yet if someone's crazy enough" prices. Yes, that says $220K.
I had a great time hanging out and browsing the swap with @Eddie_Boy and Mercedes, and it was...
I realized I have a pair of the BW studded balloon tires up on my tire rack. They don’t have “Carlisle” on the sidewall, just “Schwinn Studded Balloon”. Looking at the date code, would these be March of 1980?
@Burgess1108 I came across this today in an old Island Cycle Supply catalog. I assume like I mentioned in my previous post, that the Schwinn parts cabinets came stocked with standard repair parts. Looks like both the larger and smaller Morrow cabinets came stocked with standard...
Here’s photos of the catalog. I have earlier 60’s/70’s Schwinn Parts and Accessories catalogs, but this is the latest (1979) that I have. I don’t see an IBM number, yet it’s dated January 1979.
Very cool Chris. I just went out to the garage and checked one of mine. I picked this one up a few years ago, but it’s not mounted and it just sits up on a shelf. It doesn’t have the unique shorter crimped strut. This one has the longer crimp and slotted weep hole rather the “BB” weep hole like...
I have a 1979 Schwinn Parts and Accessories catalog. @koolbikes posted the 1980 tire page that indicates a BW and GW 26” Studded Balloon, yet the 26x2.125 Studded Balloon isn’t shown in the 1979 catalog.
Looking forward to see'n ya'all. Here's a link to the swap meet website Click Here
I'm adding a map to the CABEr swap spaces like I did last year. Tim is in space M27, and Jon is in CC43-45. Let me know if you've got a space this year. I'll add it and update the map. @whizzer1 space N2 and...
@Burgess1108 That's awesome that you got it and it sounds like it's in great shape. I don't have a lot of history on the cabinets, yet I'm convinced the same company made the Morrow, Bendix, New Departure, and maybe even Mussleman cabinets. The Schwinn cabinets being a little bit bigger in...
Ha, I've seen that eBay listing for the Morrow cabinet that's asking $1425, and it's not even in that great of shape. Crazy, and simply fishing. I've been watching that listing and they sent me an "discount offer" for $1350.
There was a killer one listed on eBay a couple of years ago that...
Yes, love these old parts cabinets. I’ve got the two smaller Morrow boxes above my Schwinn cabinet, and then the larger Morrow cabinet and a half-sized Bendix cabinet on the workbench next to it.
I won a couple of small items from the Nebraska auction. I had my eye on the Schwinn Parts cabinet, yet was just watching since I already have one. @Burgess1108 if you don’t mind me asking, what was the grand total after bid, buyer’s premium, and shipping cost? I paid $500 shipped for mine about...
Dang, sorry that happened but appreciate you sharing and giving everyone a heads up to be safe. Porch pirates suck. Another option which I’ve done in the past with FedEx or UPS is to have the item delivered to one of their stores/shipping locations rather than left on your front porch. This...
This screen grab is from a video I posted on Instagram back in 2020. This “tool” was in an old Schwinn Service manual and I had a friend make it for me about 20 years ago. Keith Murdock makes and sells a better (his is steel and slightly longer) version he calls a “KeithBar”. They work great...
