Found this abomination last fall at a local yard sale to east TN. Couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted the rear springer. It was almost a miss for me. A friend called and said they saw this weird looking bike at a yard sale and described it to me as old with bars welded to it to make it sit...
EXCUSE me! I was referring to the similarities in the bars entering the bottom bracket and Hawthorne 5 bar aspect. I've modified my post to be less absolute. I did say pretty much but yes there are differences.

Very nice. They are sweet bikes. Here's mine which is similar in some regards. Mine began as a piece of junk. Coincidently I paid 50.00 for the carcass on eBay. Did take some change to restore though.

Beautiful bike!!
That chain guard was used on late 30s Shelby's and shelby built western flyers as well.
If I guessed I'd say late 40s on the bike at whole. Look forward to seeing more comments on.
