Pretty bike, would make nice rider for a gal. But as for being collectable .... nah. I wouldnt exceed $50. Not to say Evans doesnt have collectable bikes, but a girls bike with no fenders, rack, and springer fork just aint one of em.
My former bike. The tank is repo. I painted the brown a close match to the brownish patina'd paint that was once maroon. I added the stickers cause they looked cool. Then i sold it to Dogdart, who did an outstanding job adding a faux patina'd white outline to the tank. He sold it to current owner.
Thanks! Id like to take credit for the fenders, but they were on it when i bought it. While certainly not original, the fit is spot on! I put 26×1.75s on it, but i prob could fit 2.25s.
Good question.... If we get a sunny day sometime this year I'll try it and find out. I expect itll be like my 1.75 equipped bikes in comparison to my 2.25 ers.... Slightly harsher but faster.
Ive had this Hornet for a few years. When i got it I immediately put S-2s on it before i ever really rode it. I recently put the S-7s, that came on it when i bought it, back on. Although i felt the bike was largely unmolested, i was surprised how far back the rear wheel sat, so i removed a chain...
As far as a Schwinn Cantilever tank on a boys Electra..... not a fit. Schwinn tank is too large. However a repop tank and some fab work could be an option as the lines seems to flow similarly .
A friend of mine acquired this beast as you see it. Although a rare frame, nothing else is original. So before he does any further mods that may include changes to frame, he wanted to make sure its not particularly valuable. Opinions?
I was under the impression you could get spokes on Mongoose's before 82. My 81 I had new as a kid had Femco spokes w Mongoose stamped hubs. And my 79 I got a few years ago had Femco spokes, but larger hubs.
Middleweight Murray and Huffy. Neither gonna be worth alot in terms of cash, however both are well built and will make excellent riders with servicing and new tires! Of course there may be sentimental value that is worth than anything. Happy riding!!
I aspire to NEVER be in any hobby to the point that id break my word for the almighty dollar, or pull a shady flanking maneuver on another forum member. Much respect to Jesse's response
I guess I can add my 36 Huffman Super Streamline here. Even being a girlie, it's a rarity for sure. Since getting it I've done alot of web research and I can't even find a recent sale of one to ballpark current market value.
I had a nice find Saturday. The marketplace add appeared and I called fast! I was at work, so Kstone and her BF were kind enough to grab it for me. At 8pm I had an inspiring idea to prepare it for Sunday's ride. So I stayed up til 12:30am and resumed at 7am. She was kind enough to be the rider...
Rode my Spiegle Airman around Pittsburgh during the Bicycle Heaven swap. I threw this bike together on a whim inspired by extra parts and a few drinks!
