Thanks. Here's what the seat looks like - straight post. I'm also thinking the fenders might be from a different bike. The fender stays are screwed rather than riveted to the fenders. I can see now that the hole in the fender is where it was attached to the fork and there's no hole where a light...
Just brought this home. It's a little rough, but it was cheap. Serial number is B60092 which is a little lower than that of my 1939 Schwinn, if that means anything. [/ATTACH] It has a Flying Star Badge.
I have two questions:
1. Is the chain guard original?
2. What kind of fender light was on...
Has anyone tried molasses yet on a blue chain?
Also, has anyone figured out what's in Evaporust? I haven't been able to find any info on its ingredients. It's not acidic and it seems to be water-based. It sure looks like the 10% molasses solution but it works a lot slower.
Sorry, I thought you wanted emails since your email was provided in the post I responded to. I understand that it was difficult to sell this many items at once. No worries.

As fun as it is to ride vintage bikes, for safety reasons you might consider something more modern like a three-wheeler or an Electra Townie. the Townies have geometry that allow you to put both feet on the ground when stopped without getting off the seat. An 3 or 7 speed internal hub model...
Does the solution turn black like Evaporust? (It's my mission to figure out what's in Evaporust and the like.)
Also, I'm wondering why olive oil would work better than cheaper vegetable oil?

Very nice.! All that dirt has probably protected the paint. I have the two-tone green version. The Panther is such a classic.

I really want the Wenatchee badge, because. I grew up in Wenatchee, WA and my first Schwinn came from that shop! Would you consider selling it separately?
Not to belabor the point but just for informational purposes, here's the badge on my '53 Panther. It has a Schwinn Panther chain guard but it's clear from where the holes are that it never had a Schwinn badge. It appears to have been sold by Kaufmans department stores. I also have a 1939 Schwinn...
Awhile back I found a 1941 Colson catalog online. I lost a bunch of photos, including the images I saved of it. I've found part of it in lower resolution on Nostalgic.net, but I think if you search you'll find a catalog image that shows more detail.
Mine's still in a box. I'll photograph it when I take it out. It has the cruiser, not supercruiser fork and came with no seat. It's been house-painted and is missing the headbadge, rack, pedals and light but it has the tank and fenders. I found a pre-war Delta Roadlighter for it and a rack...
Well, I don't quite have Bob Dylan's clout, but it's worth a try as long as she agrees that having to be somewhere for a real estate transaction closing is a worthy excuse for missing her concert. And at Edgefield, my favorite summer concert venue!
I was sorry to have missed it, but I was able to sell the tickets. Hope I get another chance to see her while she's still performing. She does a lot of European tours, but the Pacific Northwest is kind of hit and miss,
I agree with Crazy 8, that's highly suspicious. I bought a working top loader on eBay not too long ago for around $50. Of course mine was turquoise, not the coveted green and white combo.

Bummer! Maybe you can still get them out for another ride if you bring along one of those Slime inflating/sealing cans. That's got us home before with the lower pressure tires.

Love that trike! I saw this one at the Farm Chicks Antique Show in Spokane, WA recently. I know it's not the same model, but both seem to be iconic of the same era. I think this one was priced around $250 and was still there the second day, not sure it it ever sold. It's certainly cool and...
Darcie, you are a great mom to give Nick all of the support you do in pursuing his passion, and to participate in the hobby with him. I have a 22 year old and a 28 year old who will always be my "babies", and I can relate to the difficulties of helping them stay safe and stay away from trouble...
