This appears to have been rechromed. Very smooth with minimal texture in the hard to get areas. Also texture on the back edge of the front bezel in the rear shot.
So on the model D hubs.... I've had the same issue. The newer ones have different cones and a different bearing cover on the cog itself. It seems like the depth of the bearing changes. The actual hub shell is the same, the cogs are the same, brake arms change a bit but still are interchangeable...
Does anyone have a timeline for New Departure hubs? What models came out in what years? Fronts and rears. I need to build a few wheel sets and want to make sure Install the correct hubs. Two are for very early 1930's bikes.
So what year's was the Model C rear hub used? I just acquired a CC hub...
The easiest way to tell is the bottom where the screws are inserted. Notice on the first one the surface is totally flat with holes drilled into the surface and threaded, yet on the second one the bottom of it is sort of hollowed out and the screw holes have their own raised area to be screwed...
Yes I know all about your serial number project. I've got over 50 Shelbys from 1935-1951. Mens, women's, you name it. All of which are original paint bikes. My 36 matched pair both have date coded Morrow hubs from 1936. Both bikes made in the same quarter of 1936 with flat top forks. I have...
That rack and guard ARE correct for your bike. To add a deluxe rack to it defeats the purpose of the bike for the year that it is. I honestly think it's a late 1939 with that round top fork on it. The round top fork was an upgrade shelby did sort of like a recall in a sense to the flat top fork...
No we have more brains than money. It's not THAT old and the plating is gone. The bell is late 1940's. Look at the plane on it. Looks like a P40 Warhawk if you ask me which would be mid to late 40's. Hell, I paid what the high bid is for my Swaztika bell with nickel plating. Find one of those.
If I was trying to make money, I wouldn't be making bicycle grips. Come on...🙄 Look on the bright side, I'm not asking for bikes i can part out and destroy history to make a buck. I'm trying to do something positive for the hobby. Let's keep this thread that way.
So back on topic.... what...
It's not about making a profit. I just want to help the hobby. As long as it doesn't put me in the negative, I'd be ok with that. I highly doubt any of the guys selling reproduction parts make a profit, they do it for the love of the hobby. I myself desperately need the ladies short ball end...
If I'm successful, I'll definitely attempt making pedal blocks also. I have two pairs of the rare and expensive Torrington script pedals that sold on here about a month ago. I even have a women's pair of them. I'd try to make those blocks also, even though the end caps are different.
I know everyone has been itching to get out and ride. I'm right there with you guys and gals but...for right now, all of the Rolling Relics rides are on hold.
This isn't easy for me to announce at all and i got the ok from Mary first. Mary's father was diagnosed with cancer quite a few months...
The koolest thing about that bike... the throttle grip is literally twisted and petrified that way for all eternity like somebody rode it balls out all day everyday for its whole life. I've never seen a coke bottle grip twist like that and stay to that pattern. Too kool.
So... I'm loosely, very loosely, considering reproducing grips for the fact that its just plain tough to get grips. We had one gentleman on here who did a fantastic job at making them and they were extremely affordable, but it seems he hasn't made any in a long time? There is another gentleman...
Thanks everyone for the kind words but I can't take credit for the C.O.B.O.A. rides. These rides are all Mike and Tony. They came up with C.O.B.O.A. quite a few years back. Tony's son Milo was under the weather so he wasn't able to make it so I merely helped Mike out with leading us around for...
So... I know... last minute... literally minutes... but this isn't my ride, nor did I realize it wasn't shared on here until now but here you go. C.O.B.O.A. Which consists of Mike and Tony the Hat are throwing a St. Patrick's Day ride around Lodi,Ca. tomorrow. So ride a green bike or wear some...
Isn't the swap at a brewery? Why do you need a cooler? 🤣 Unless you're planning on sleeping there and drinking all night into the morning also? You should be selling, not consuming. 😂🤣
How has Doug Fisk been? I haven't spoke with him in years?? Tell him I said hi if anyone out there sees him. Tell him hit me up on here please.
You guys have a great group and a killer route with beautiful scenery. If I'm ever that way, I'll let you guys know and we cam go for a spin. Would...
So... for the veterans of attending ML, I have some questions for newbies that have never attended such as myself. A few of us from California might be attending this year. All suggestions appreciated. Maybe I should start this in a new separate thread?
What is the best airport to fly into...
I had the same problem with mine. Full tilt Imperial, missing tank, same dream... so I sold mine as well. Mike hoards all the tanks. I wanted to copy one just to make a fiberglass one as a placeholder and I would have been satisfied. Oh well.
