My buddy at eBay store went out of business, I'm afraid. Altho he survived heart transplant. I had him pay for a rear fender from you bout 4 years ago. ,at least. Believe it was super wide one year only 41?. Plus it wore supports that were white. . He said he would buy for me if I needed.. I'm...
I seen that. Actually with the DOND option here, eBay the only place I can afford to look and have a chance to buy. The cross braced handlebars that were recently fought for had unbelievable finish. Might be a pickers dream at his place.
I have done a deal with reed. I needed a prewar fender. I have it now, It was worth it. My regret now is a should have asked for the front as well. I bit my tongue because I had a friend helping me with payment method. My friend suggested I keep my mouth shut if I needed the part.. Subsequent...
My friend pulled a drum brake prewar out of there a couple years ago. I wasn't as lucky, but that's how things go I ended up with prewar. Sans handlebars.
You been having a tough year. Got sick, Been late on show and tell more times than not. Then there was all that chatter concerning provenance on your Lindy. . Fooling round with these old ones never been easy.. But without a caretaker the old bikes would just rot away
I have spent 350 for a nice one. For a combo, two centers and bezel probably 150. A while back on both of these. . I don't wire them up. But put them on mainly for looks The similar base that it shares with silveray sell for a hundred and the clamp for handlebar is another hundred.. I would not...
All the ones I have had are polished. I suppose u can find one natural finished . But I think I this case it was painted over. Long as it ain't all cracked up at the ports, or vents. It is desirable. They all crack Even the shiny ones Pull the paint off it and let's see it then
How are the bearings in bottom bracket? You probably gonna be looking for items. Maybe reach out to some guys that stockpile the prewar hardware and get a combo including headset cups and chain wheel hardware.. Nice bike tho. I myself an thinking about the frame cushion adjacent to springer...
Not good. Might have to adapt a different type of Schwinn headset. A more commonly found . Lots of wear to try and get by with just replacing top bearing.
I think headlight interferes with flow of the design.. I would replace spokes if OG Torrington can be found and install Schwinn script hub up front for ultimate in adjustment. .
Had an idea to form a tank seems like forever. Been putting sheet metal on the Skylark to keep squirrels out.So I put this into action. Wooden buck in general shape of battery tank. Metal laid on top with a cover in a smaller ,but similar shape. Then proceed to shrink metal down .And around...
In it's design it holds the bike upright securely. As often the upper plate is deformed from over tightening It allows for that by keeping clamping force spreading outwards against tubes. Evenly to match tubes flaring out. In it's pinned cam, one is reminded of Schwinn's design. In this example...
Looks good from here, combining a variety of features found on other designs. Won't crush like miller stands, Don't believe shifting is gonna be a problem either.
Everything appears to be there. Might have handlebar wedge stuck. As for condition of paint, there was a similar bike that was professionally cleaned( oxalic) and it worked miracles. If I was gonna buy, maybe 300.
Back years ago, there was a Schwinn dealer on Wentworth, Calumet city. The times were slowly changing and high crime forcing it out of business. A couple things I noticed were the bontrager tires like skpc show on his bike. Super lightweight. Even the salesman suggested I should buy. . But being...
I got lucky with a pair of double drops, ? Or are rims in background triple? Still shiny with long nips intact. Took hours of work Finally relaxing to morrow+ Schwinn script. One giant hurdle was to create form out of aluminum that served as a buck to straighten outside rim lip Mated to old...
Hold one side stationary, then pry on crooked side, With a little over center + should have a little spring after it is released. On the bike it's possible but everything has to be in adjustment.. Lots of different methods, instead of high spots u can go after low spots. All this depends on the...
You've done pretty good..Rims look to be nicer than the bike I would put them on. Was a time your parts pile could be found But those days all long gone. Anything parts wise has got a line of guys waiting on it these days.
Spend some time on the forum first. Watch and learn the value of some of the higher end parts. And observe the way things work. Don't give your stuff away. And I would on to something just for in case, you get interested in building a bike up
I have been holding onto this idea since the late 70's. At this point I'm willing to share a pic to get the idea going.
I used a vintage chair similar to these+ upon splitting the legs where they were joined, discovered it was able to be joined And clamped into the neck of old Schwinn. Similar...
