Hi,
My speedo drive doesn't spin smoothly, it has a nasty crunch every few revolutions... with or without cable installed.
I've no idea how to go about dismantling the drive or whether it's simply toast!
Any suggestions/advice before I consider a repop fibre wheel style off eBay?
Thanks!
Hi,
What am I doing wrong here?
I'm working on 46 DX and when I install the kickstand, the crank arm won't clear the stand in up position. Are there different angles/sizes of kickstand?
Photo shows stand removed but should give an idea of the problem I'm up against.
Many thanks,
Martin
I'm desperate for one of these screws too! What length should I use? EG I can find these, but the length seems too long?

Many thanks
This is typical of my luck! I've spent the last three months with time on my hands, I start back to work this week and bang! No spare time!!
Am I at least on the right track that my spokes are correct and 4x would be the pattern?
Removing the cog - do I require special tools and/or a skip tooth...
Hi,
I've just taken a pair of rims, hubs etc to be laced at a local to me bike shop and rather than intrigue I was greeted with negativity! The bike shop has a fairly decent reputation so I've left them with the wheels whilst they wait for answers to their issues:
Is it correct front and rear...
Hi,
Can I ask for opinions on this Colorflow?
I'm in the UK where this bike is being sold.
Asking price is £500 GBP = ~$640 USD
As there's no shipping costs for us it seems quite tempting...
Are the tanks extremely hard to obtain? It looks like it's mostly all there... possible restoration...
Hi all,
The rivet holding the 'stud onto my Speedo drive wheel is loose, and rattles, and spins...
Not sure what the best solution would be?
Drill out old rivet and redo with a gun? Anyone experienced this? I'm not sure what to expect if the 'stud' is removed
Hi,
We're currently doing up a 41 DX and have realised we're short of one link of Diamond chain.
This is our first attempt at a skip tooth bike and didn't realise the length issue until trying to fit the chain today.
Would anyone have a spare link and master they'd be willing to sell, and ship...
Apologies to keep banging on this thread, but I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing before the point of no return:
I believe Autocycleplane has correctly deduced the fact that my whole frame set is correct, but at some point in the past the steerer has been swapped out.
So, with a 5...
That seems highly likely... look at this picture, zero paint of sorts on the steerer. So could I modify my current steerer or find a suitable one? Would that throw out the springer geometry?
Thanks - so if I was to find a steerer (7?") what modifications would be required?
Really appreciate your help with this. No way to know 100% but it arrived all looking as though it belonged together!
Thanks
Martin
So, just to clarify: the picture shows what I received (the front fender is backwards I know!), before I start hunting for another prewar DX frame to accept the springer, I just wanted to make sure there's nothing I can do to remedy this situation.
Interesting. Thank you. I'm away from the bike now until new year. I'll resurrect this thread when I can get some pictures.
It does seem the steerer is a long way short though.
Would extending the tube upset the rake/angle of the spring etc?
Hi,
So a while ago I bought a 41 DX frame, fenders and springer off an eBay seller, believing it was all compatible.
Turns out the frame headtube is a fraction under 5 1/2". Whereas the springer steerer tube is 6 3/8".
What to do? What should the steerer length be? I'm guessing it's at least...
Hi
Anyone wish to sell a prewar DX tank?
I'm struggling to get my repop tank to fit my '41
It's a resto project so no concerns about paint colour/condition/etc
Thanks
Martin
Well, I'm having issues fitting a repop tank on to my 41... I've spoken to Dan/bicyclebones and he says it's an easy trim around the bottom front to get the tank to fit...
I'm yet to try, I might instead hunt for an original... hint, hint!!
Martin
Hi
Please see pictures of a rear DX fender I've got for a 41 frame.
It's been repaired in the past and simply fell apart in my hands.
I'm thinking JB Weld or similar to reattach the piece used for repair - or does anyone have any better ideas or is the fender toast?
Any advice welcome.
Thanks...
Hi
I'm doing a resto 41 DX to the best of my ability and I'm a bit stuck with what to do with my spring...
Does it look like it will rechrome okay? Or should I keep hunting for a replacement? I'm in the UK so hunting for parts is totally dictated by the internet, but through sellers here and...
Hi,
And greetings from the UK!
I have a set of 26" chrome repop drop centre rims which are proving to be a headache for our local bike shop:
Lacing the front rim to a Schwinn script hub with .080 spokes is no problem, but the bike shop are telling me lacing the kickback to the rear is...
Just missed out on a couple recently so trying my luck here!
With or without forks, any other parts considered.
Shipping, which I know will be high, is to the UK
Many thanks
Martin
Hi
Would anybody be willing to sell me and ship the following water slide decals to the UK?
I'm after one Pinkertons decal and one The World script for down tube
Many thanks
Martin
Hi,
I'm fitting a NOS Bendix red band 2 speed kick back to my 48 DX.
The sealed bag which came with the Bendix contains the brake arm strap and two flat/smooth axle washers and two axle nuts.
Is there anything else I'm going to need when installing the wheel to the frame? Serrated washers, etc...
Hi
Could anyone tell me the correct size of bolt used on a post war DX nine hole rack?
Got the rack and bracket, just need the nut and bolt!
Thanks
Martin
Thanks Rudy,
I know you are right. Being in the UK we do find it difficult to get the parts and info.
I worry also that the perfect drive may turn up and the seller then won't ship overseas...
It's a tricky one. One thought is to go for a repop until the correct set is found...
Glad you like...
