Thanks for all the input. I have seen some bells that have a similar piece and was considering that option. It would be the simple solution but I thought I’d try to see if anyone had one with a similar color and patina before I get a new version. Thanks again gentleman!
Back in the day, it was a war between GT and Haro as to who was number 1. GT sent Haro a cake in the shape of number 1 and Haro reshaped it and sent it back as number 2!! I’m a Haro fan so my collection has many Haro bikes and 1 GT.
I would say it is a 1988 Haro based on color. The RS3 model wouldn’t have had the brake behind the bottom bracket. That was on the RS1 which was the top of the line for Haro RS series bikes. There was also an RS2 wich was in the middle and the RS3 was at bottom with a tri moly frame.
Looks like an '83 Predator with what they refer to as having the Atari decals. They can be made to look very cool when restored. Its up to you if its worth messing with. It does have a different fork, crank and bars that were replaced at one time.
I definitely like it! Just when I think I don't need anymore, along comes something interesting. Something that reignites the flame and passion for bikes.
3speed Corvette, seat has wear and tear from all of those years of ass. Fenders have seen better days. They have the usual dents and dings. Cables are dry and discolored but I gave them a lube and added lube to rear hub. Rides fine and 3 speed hub works. Local bike shop here would put name on...
Try this, citric acid. It will remove the rust wo all the work you are doing. Get a tub and add 1/2 cup of citric acid to water container. After a few minutes, take a toothbrush and brush surface. It will begin to clean up. You will be surprised how easy it is. Thicker rust will need more time...
I like it very much. I was in your area 2 weeks ago and picked up a Monark Rocket 24" bike for my son. I got to see the bike shops and the beach. I wasn't there long enough to see the skating.
I use citric acid. It's about $5 a lb at a brewery hardware store. The specific amount is a guess but then I can take a tooth brush and it starts to fall off. It will clean up rusty chains really well. It tends to make them black. It does eat the finish on galvanized spokes or light colored...
