I have a feeling I know the answer, but 2 of my bikes have a grinding sound in the BB, for 1/2 revolution and only on one side. Doesn't matter if it easy or hard pedaling.... One of the bikes has only been ridden 30 feet 🧐😕🤔 PS: they have been greased with Park grease...
Thanks for any help....
My next project is a 36 Double Bar.....I've searched this site for threads on this bike. The only color pic I have found is this one.
Is this one of those bikes that you can get it anyway you want as long as it's red?
I have everything shown here, except I had to destroy the Handle bar stem...
The non-drive side crank on my Hawthorne Twin Bar is hitting the frame. I need to bend it out about 1/8". I would like to do it while it's on the frame....Reason being that I would have to knockout the BB races in order to get it out. That would be the last resort because I could end up damaging...

I've had this bike for a while. Recently put it together and noticed something odd about the wheelsize. It's a Marshall-Wells Zenith.
Not sure of the year, @fordmike65 seems to think it's Snyder built. The first pic shows it with 26" wheels on it.
The wheels & fenders are not original to...

I know it's a pre war western flyer, with the serial # I'm guessing 1938? It has a descent paint job, not OG. Was wondering what it's supposed to look like, can't find anything on it.
Thanks.
I joined this site looking for info on my 49 Hawthorne. I didn't start out with an original patina bike, so I did what pleased me on it. It will never be sold, it's a fun bike.
I understand now that there are purists that are on here,so I have changed my thinking about what I buy from now on...
I am putting my 48/49 Hawthorne back together and something caught my eye. When the springer is mounted, it is about 1/2" above the bottom of the axle opening as shown. Is that normal?
This next picture is a "bushing?" that sits into the rubber that is 5/8" long. Is that correct and if not...
I am new here and need some help. I am working on redoing my 48/49 Hawthorne. I wanted to replace the old spokes with Silver Stainless ones. I took them to the shop this morning to get them done. I got a call from them saying they couldn't get the rear sprocket off to continue. He got the lock...
