I have the original Dunlops on my Higgins, I am running Panaracer Paselas. I have had the tire come unseated. Its not a common occurrence. If originality is not super important, I would pick rims that have the lips on them to hold the bead.

What is odd about the stem size? Is the quill diameter smaller? Thanks! Chris

Good question. 1. The cable will not break. 2.The cable is necessary and goes to a spring which acts kind of like a damper. Different spring weights were available to tune the ride.

In your photo, I do not see anything wrong with your dog bone. I recommend not worrying about it.

Does anyone know how many women's bikes were made? Or what percentage of women's bikes were made? In my time collecting here in the San Francisco area, I think at least as many women's bikes have crossed my path as mens bikes have. I've never bought one though.

My rims are not marked, or there aren't any marks remaining. I think the wheels are original. The rear has a Morrow that was made before 1915, so it could have been made in 1911. I have changed the bars and saddle since I took this photo.

Steel fenders were an option. If the shoe fits, wear it.

I have a BSA Opperman Special frameset. I think but am not sure that the first year they began making the Opperman Special was 1934. Mine is probably slightly newer than 34.
