Finally riding a big boys bike

Since the girlfriend is so supportive and enthusiastic about my hobbies, I decided to look for a bike for her to go along with my '47 Continental. After unsuccessfully trying to buy a couple of matching ladies Conti's, I bought this '40 New World. What better gift to give her than something that we can enjoy together, right?

When I told her what I'd bought, she was just as excited and anxious to do the project as I was. She jumped in and helped me completely disassembled everything. She cleaned greasy parts, and gave me ideas on what she wanted the bike to be. Originality was not important, although she did want to retain the original paint. I'm waiting on a Miller kickstand from ebay and a new SA hub adjuster, but otherwise it's done and I couldn't wait to make a post. The bike is a mix and match of original parts, new parts, and a few other old Schwinn parts I had lying around. It all came together and she couldn't be happier with it.. Thanks to the CABE members that helped make it happen. :)

can we see some pix of yours? is that the orig color? Ive never seen a light blue one before

The '47 is completely original, except for the tires. I've put on whitewalls since these pics, and have a new saddle and grips that I use for riding. (As can be seen in the pic at the top of the thread.)

really nice bike and paint! sorry, i mistook the subject and missed you mentioning in the top post it was a continental. That frame would make a great touring bike.

Agreed.. The early Schwinn lightweights are nice, under-appreciated bikes, with tons of potential. :)
