British “Seat/Saddle” Invasion Part #1
An offering of antique and vintage British racer seats; they seem to vary in age, some very old to more recent; many appear to be pre-war. I not knowledgable about these so please feel free to ask questions. I cannot date them so use your own expertise. Please PP friends and family or add 3%. All prices quoted with US shipping. Out of country at cost. Please PM if interested. Kindly, Brant
#1 Heavy (vulcanized?) rubber over thick canvas seat, shallow in profile, has metal Dunlop, Magnum F 11 tag on rear; no springs, model center channel. Approx 11 by 8 inches. Shows use and wear, cracks on each side that has been re-enforced/repair using rivets and heavy leather on the underside (see images). $65 shipped.
#2 Side stamped “ Lycetts Imperial 83” Leather top, shows use and wear, some crazing in leather, one side is miss-shapened. Unusual spring configuration. Leather is cracked through the bridge between the two vent holes on top; also cracked through at the one side of rear grommet hole, missing metal grommet rings, approx. 11 by 8 inches. $75 shipped.
#3 Rear metal back tag, Brooks, complex spring under chassis, top is asphalted or painted canvas over leather, and a layer of mohair padding?, stitching is out across the rear and one side gusset. Some wear through at rear edges of top material, fabric is also pulled out of front two rivet holes, approx. 10.5 by 7 inches. $65 shipped.
#4 Side stamped Dunlop, heavy (vulcanized?) rubber over thick canvas seat, decent condition, two newer bolts on bottom, rear lower edges missing under grommet area, no rear tag, some cracks on edges, fine holes around edges (maybe this had a special trim stitched on at some time?). Cool piano wire under chassis. Seems sturdy enough to use. $45 shipped.
