What brand is best today? What brand was best or very good back in the day,50's 60's 70's? Is there a source for NOS stuff? Thanks

Chain is pretty standard stuff. It all rusts eventually. I don't think it really matters what brand it is.

KMC makes a 1/8" chain which can use either quick-links or you can press the pin with your chain tool.
