Finally riding a big boys bike
Can some of you Schwinn experts help me verify the date of this Schwinn DX I just picked up.
When I look up the serial number it says 2/12-2/19 1952. It appears all original. I thought Schwinn started using S2 rims in 1948. Wonder why this has drop center rims. Aren't the Coke bottle grips earlier than 1952? Although grips are easily changed out. I've looked through all the old catalogs on-line but it gets a bit confusing.
- Serial Number B20894 under the bottom bracket
- Drop center rims chrome
- New Departure skip tooth hub
- Schwinn script front hub
- Coke bottle grips
- Regular drop outs
- Mesinger seat
- Integrated kick stand (not tapered) but bent up. Maybe it was replaced?
- The rear chrome rack I'm pretty sure was a 50's accessory
- No AS marked bolts
- The World head badge
- Pearson Majestic pedals
