Rustjunkie was right. The easiest way to remove an ND cog is while it is laced up in a rim. I tried holding the driver in a vice with wood. Nope. I crushed the oak like it was balsa. I didn't want to grip the Acme threads in a vice or with a pipe wrench, so I went looking for one of these, the female sleeve. I figured to put the wrench on it to save the driver.

I welded the bolt in and the nut on. Now I screw the driver into the Acmes, drop on a thick washer and nut.

Now comes the skip tooth chain whip into play!
