Hello, Ickes up this prewar Columbia men's bike at a auction over the weekend. I need help on a year, model and value. I believe it may be a 1940/41. Any help would be appreciated.
Columbia bikes are able to be dated by the serial number. The number on the bottom bracket should start with a letter.
The bike looks to be early post war from about 1945 to 47/48. The rear drop outs appear to be the type without the adjusting screws. The light also looks like the post war top loader with the Westfield scallops on top.
I'll have to look at the bottom bracket. This bike had a Whizzer engine on it before. It had the brackets on the frame and rear belt sheave on the wheel.
