Just bought a set of Schwinn Tandem wheels off of eBay. The seller didn't mention the back wheel was rotted through. Are all S-7 hoops the same? Can I replace with a regular S-7 hoop and drill out for larger spokes?
Yes they are the same 36 spoke rims. The worst case is if some early ones had larger spoke nipples and therefore larger nipple holes. I do not know that that is true though. An electric drill would quickly fix that if that is the case. Roger
I've drilled the holes bigger.use the smallest size drill bit possible to get it done.I put masking tape on the chrome side to help prevent chrome peeling at the holes.seemed to work fine.
I have a nice set of S7 hoops,or a complete set of heavy duty S7 wheels, single speed with fat spokes.Private Message if interested.
