Vintage-Whizzer
Finally riding a big boys bike
Here is a vintage 1943 to 1945? Model F Whizzer tank that was in need of some major help!
The neck was heavily rusted as seen below, and needed to be replaced.
This part of the gas tank is soldered on, and can easily be removed with a little heat.
I had on old gas can sitting around with a very similar neck, so I decided to sacrifice it for a better cause.
I heated the old fuel tank with a propane torch, and the threaded neck fell off in seconds.
The Whizzer tank was then prepped, and ready for it's new part.
To keep the heat away from the old maroon paint, I cut a hole in an old rag, got it wet, and the placed it around the neck.
I then got it hot with with a little propane, and added new solder until it spewed out the other side.
Tomorrow, I will clean the solder job, and touch it up with a little maroon paint.
This was my first time ever doing something like this, and it was very easy.
I hope this can be helpful to anybody that has an old F-tank that is in need of the same repair.
Take care, and thanks for checking out this thread.
