fender stripes

i have a 55 ballooner american that came with 2 plain stripes on the fenders,i see horntes,spitfires,americans etc,some have the triangle fender ends and2 strips,some omly have 2 white strips,if they are both non-tankers ,why the differance?thanks

I think striping came in several different levels. Plain stripes, stripes with darts at the front and rear tips, then Autocycles with chevron on the front tip and dart in back with stripes outlined with pinstripes and diamond downtube. Fenders have been swapped around so much I have to do a lot of research to understand what was suppose to be original for a particular year and model.
