Finally riding a big boys bike
Hey guy's, I've restored a few antique motorcycles and a few vintage bicycles, but Im now entering the final stages of my pre war Elgin which leaves me with a simple issue that I'm really unsure of. As far as chain tension goes, is there a rule of thumb for play in a skip tooth chain over a standard chain? Thanks, Roger

I have 2 bikes. One is a skip tooth and the other standard. I keep about 3/4" play in both. Seems to work fine. I'm sure other opinions will vary. It's not sloppy, but not too tight either.

Yep, just like he said. Same tension on both chains. Too tight and they bind like hell. Rob.
