it's clear the bike was originally yellow. you don't get to just go with whatever you want!

If you want to try and bring back the original paint look up a product called goof off. It seems to me all the painted parts are there meaning it could turn out amazing.

Could have been maroon originally or perhaps it was red that with age has turned to maroon.
I have a bike that is dull red/orange in parts. But around the crank area & under the light assembly,
the color is a shiny deep red .
