Help with Hawthorne I.D. needed

I'm thinking about picking this bike up from a friend and he said he can't find the serial number. I had a rollfast years ago with the same frame, mine was a 55. This bike is original down to the riverside tires. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, rob.

I think your are right on with 55

started cleanup on it today. Started out with wd40 and 0000 steel wool and I'm seeing some paint, but may have to resort to an OA bath. Any thoughts?

It should have the year in reverse on the BB.

Thanks Adam. It's stamped 75E. So 1957? I found a pic and exact description of it in the elgin jc Higgins and Hawthorne book for 1957. Rob.
