Picked up this prewar hawthorne

buy bikes at car swap meets, buy car parts a bike swap meets.

got this at the aberdeen military vehicles show last week. Great show. Unimogs, WWII military vehicles and the occasional bicycle.

Couldn't pass this one up for the price, nice saddle, non-OG paint. wheels and tires I had. it came with a nice set of new departures laced to some drop centers with OG lightning darts. wanted the wheels for another bike. liked the truss rods too.

will make a nice rider.

Aberdeen proving grounds area, I used to live in Bel Air and Joppatown MD years ago.

I recently picked up a girls of the same model, I beleive, if we go by the bent trussrods. They are bent to incase the GE headlight assembly.

Your fork doesn't have the headlight mounting bracket though.

lot of prewar parts on this bike, skiptooth, rear facing drops, looks like it had a dropstand at one time, early ND brake arm. wouldn't be surprised if it was a frankenbike. truss rods did catch my eye, makes sense if they were like that to fit a light.

The red bike is around a 40. The truss rods are from an early 50s model like JD's.
