Look Ma, No Hands!
Hi

Our 48 dx (starting to take shape) needs a stand, but which type?

The frame has no built in kick stand, never has had, and no tubing to fit one to. Is this unusual?

Would prefer a drop stand but have been told it wouldn't fit a post - war.

Any ideas? Currently trying out a Wald hub stand but not sure I'm that keen.

Thanks
Martin

My '41 DX had a MILLER made side kick stand. Early postwar prior to the builtin version would also take a MILLER.

Looks like you could put a drop stand on those rack or fender holes behind the axle and use the axle nuts as the stand stop, just move the rear wheel in to accommodate the stand and get the angle right. You may need to enlarge the holes in the frame?

Easy, buy a Miller stand, make sure it's for a 26" bike.

Don't do the rear stand.

I'm with larmo... If you want a bike with a,drop stand, get one that originally came with one... also the side stand will be wayyyyy cheaper, correct and won't look like a giant modified monster that may or may not work...

Also, miller kickstands seem to be readily available, if a member here doesn't have one for you there are some on fleabay.

Thanks for the comments
Have ordered an NOS Wald Miller style stand.
Will report back!
Cheers
Martin
