ignaz. LANGUAGE FAMILY: tyrrhenian ORIGIN: etruscan NAME ROOT: IGNIS > EGNāTĭUS. MEANING: This name derives from the Etruscan, later from the Latin, “ignis > egnātĭus”, meaning “fiery one, fire, light, glow, radiance, rays of the sun”. I think his parents may have been onto something.
