Shelby Flyer, need help to i.d. date range

-

1953BelAir

Look Ma, No Hands!
I've had this Shelby Flyer twice for the better part of 27 years. We got it from the original owners family. The bike was covered with maroon spray paint over the majority of the red but some of the blue was exposed. I finally decided to take it apart and expose the original paint. Thankfully I was able to save a good amount of the pin stripes. I know noting about Shelby's and tried to search here and google to try and figure out what year range this is. What I can say is the rims and headlight are not original to the bike. The rims were added back in 1993 and I found the light at a swap meet a couple of years ago. The bars and stem were on it when we got it but do not look like the typical Shelby style. The guard looks like the Hiawatha style but it's badged a Shelby Flyer. There is no serial number stamped on the bottom bracket. I'm a Schwinn guy and know very little about these bikes. Any info or input would be very much appreciated. I didn't take any before photos but I do have one from 93 in a photo album somewhere. It's far from perfect but it's going to make a really nice rider.

That is a beautiful example. Sometimes it requires some imperfections in order to achieve true perfection, and I think this is a pretty good example of where that is the case. Very nice bike, I'd be proud to have a ride like that!
