$30 project bike. Any ideas?

Picked this bike up for $30 any ideas on what it may have been originally? Green paint under the black spray over and green head badge. I don't see any serial numbers on the rear drop outs, which seem kind of small.

Wrong fork, looks like my '58 Tornado frame. They used that straight single bars on a few bikes. The serial should be there on brake side drop out. Otherwise it would be under the bottom bracket.

Thanks, that would explain the streaks of white toward the head tube. Seems like an uncommon color for a Tornado. Also pretty sure the chain guard, pedals and front sprocket aren't original either.

Looks like it was a two tone green. The Tornado was never offered in Green. Did you check under the crank for the serial? What rims are on it or size of tires?

If it is a two tone green and a balloon model it could have been a 1956 Deluxe Hornet

Too tough to say what model it is. Coach green is not a sparse color. Front fender is Schwinn, for the style paint potentially 51 or below but wrong color for this green frame. Rear is not Schwinn rest is pretty obvious mis-matched parts. IDK is that fork cap, like a huffy or, on a Schwinn fork? Looks like it. wrong chain ring, while the head set looks Schwinn. Are the rims Schwinn? hard to see. But if they are s-8's then frame probably goes newer than 54. Potentially a Hornet which could be lower end Coach Green or higher color choice for green Opal or Radiant. Coach Green continued up too around 1960, it just wasn't as preferred or desirable as it was in older models by then. Regardless, at this stage, anything U want it to be.

An S-8 on a balloon model? I think not. 😉
