My Mother bought my brother some slippers as a gift, when he slipped them on, he found a bag of weed hidden in them...Gotta tell you - that was the funniest gift story in my family (My Mom is super straight and very religious...she was mortified)

1938 ish Westfield wooden plug to accept through steering tube fender bolt. Looks factory to me and likely a cost cutting manouver... Probably speeds original assembly and subsequent service. I wonder if they considered the possibility of the bolt coming loose and falling onto the spinning front wheel!

Anyone else seen this?
