According to the serial number listings in Collectable Schwinn-Built Bicycles 1950s – 1965 by James L. Hurd, the year letter is missing from 1/24/66 to 2/1/66.
These were all A & B numbers though. Not sure what to make of your C number.

Note: It looks like your rear derailleur pivot is locked in place.
The derailleur should be canted forward a bit and be able to pivot freely from about the 5:00 o'clock to 7:00 o'clock positions.

Ironically, the Coppertone '62 Continental I bought was the same way when I first brought it home. As soon as I just loosed it slightly, it sprang into the proper position.
