    Nicer than an AMC Gremlin.

    ... Neighbor ...

A girl with braids and a mischievous look who does bike tricks; if she had been my neighbor when I was 12, I would have been in love. I always had a soft spot for braids. Remember the Annie Oakley TV show with Gail Davis? Which reminds me that the real Annie Oakley rode a bike.

    Early Lobdell seat recovering

Tacochris: Not sure, but I looks like your second picture shows welting that was sewn around the edge of the saddle covering. The construction may not be exactly the same but below are photos of a deconstructed saddle from a Flightliner. Pics show components from the bottom up 1) steel pan...

    Girl's 7-Tank Spaceliner color?

Cousin Guzzi: Nice! I don't have any direct evidence on color, but turquoise was around back then. Picture is a Murray-built Western Flyer Cosmic Flyer of similar vintage. I can see from your photo that the chrome has evaporated from your plastic crank cover. It's easy to spiff up: Wet sand with...

    1973 Speedster

Beautiful bikes! But to keep our taxonomy straight, these are lightweights, not middleweights. Should be posted in the "Lightweight Schwinn Bicycles" forum. Maybe they are welterweights? ;)

    What bike is this?

Love the way the chain guard is faired into the down tube and the seat tube. That extra streamlining is bound to give you a few extra mph's at the end of the quarter mile! :p The caliper brake on the springer fork is pretty cool, too, but I have to wonder what happens if you apply the brake...

    Would someone help me out

Eeapo: Pic shows what cousin Wheeler refers to. Cable stop clamp is on the left. Adjusting barrel (works like a turnbuckle) is in the middle. Bell crank is on the right. Note that this hub has a coaster brake and the bell crank on the left side like yours. Others, without coaster brake, have...

Last Pick Dec.31 of 2020 In Mobile Al shocked Me “Raleigh Chopper “ GIRLIE All Original

Whoa! This is an example of a solution looking for a problem. Did anyone, either male or female, ever have a problem with the normal configuration with the twin top bars a few inches higher than the down tube? That frame must have quite a bit of flex. And the welds at both ends of the down tube...

    Rollfast Twin Tube or another?

Dandonatello: I fear you may be perceiving some finagling that ain't here. I've been following this forum for some time and find the members to be cordial and helpful. We're all human and like a good deal, but I haven't seen anybody out to cheat. I hope that you continue to visit the forum...

    Flightliner

Can't see the tank decoration on the catalog illustration for the 4660, but the 4666 seems to read "JC HIGGINS." I can testify that at least one 1960 Flightliner has a metallized JC Higgins sticker.

    Flightliner

Model 4660 is listed in the Sears Spring/Summer 1962 catalog as a boys' 26-inch Flightliner with regular coaster brake. The illustration shows "J.C. HIGGINS" on the chain guard. This is the cheaper of two models; the illustration of the more expensive model (4666 or 4668) shows "Flightliner" on...

    This Sums It Up...

I have more storage space, but it's filled with my wife's gardening equipment, china, extra kitchen equipment, and tchotchkes. ... And my kayaks, canoes, and boating gear. Dang.

Show me your NON-BICYCLE bicycle parts.

I carved a sandpiper decoy as a fender ornament for a Schwinn Fiesta. It was bought by a surfer. How appropriate.
