Wheel building class..How much would you pay?

I built my first wheel-a rear wheel for a 10-speed-in 1983 with a basic wheel truing stand, dishing tool, and Jobst Brandt's The Bicycle Wheel.

    Phillips Birmingham Bicycle

The flattened crown on the front fork looks like it came off a Dunelt.

    Super clean 1970 Raleigh DL1

They are out there. 4 years I acquired a mint 1966 Dunelt coaster brake model.

Kirk Douglas riding a (possibly?) Raleigh rod brake roadster.

The picture is not reversed, the buttons of his jacket are on the right, the cover of the fly of his pants in in the correct position. It looks like the bell on the handlebars is on the left-?

    Super clean 1970 Raleigh DL1

Looks like it was just assembled. Quite a find !

Humber Sports 3-speed with tubular front fork.

If the Dyno works and the price is reasonable I would think hard about it. Needs a good cleaning up, some steel wool and oil on the chrome but that is a good rainy/snowy/icy stay at home day project.

Bicycling in the Bad Old Days....

...of Occupied France, 1940-1944. Reading Les Parisiennes by Anne Seba, several pictures of women on bicycles-they had mixte frames back then, one picture shows how women dealt with Vichy's frowning on women wearing pants by wearing divided skirts. I wonder where they got the energy, what with...

    Brass bearings and bicycles

Overhauled the bottom bracket of my 1960s Sunbeam, discovered it has brass ball bearings in it. That's a first for me. Any pros and cons for brass ball bearings vs. steel ?

    Unusual elliptical chain ring

Interesting. There was some interest in elliptical/out of round chain rings in the early 1980s, I recall one woman member of my club said they helped to eliminate knee discomfort. IIRC people found out they could not be used with a derailleur and their benefits were "greatly exaggerated".

how many Cabers have ridden 100 miles on a bike all at once?

Only once years ago, on my trusty red 1979 Schwinn Superior. Set off one day, realized I had gone 65 miles, so I said I'll do 100. Got back at 2AM-my bike has a generator light and flasher. "Some day" I will do 100 on a 3-speed.

    Most Comfortable Saddle

I am a Brooks devotee, one thing I have found with non leather saddles Is they don't breathe, and that is important for me.

OK cough it up! How do you find your scores??

I have done very well with Craigslist, found BOTH (yes!) my 22" Dl-1s there, the first I drove all the way to Duxbury, MA for-over 600 miles round trip ! The second was only about 2 hours away. I found a MINT 1966 Dunelt with S3C hub (pictures when I figure out how) in Tuckahoe, NY, took the...

    ⚠️ Warning!

I had the outer plate break on a fairly new master link on one of my Raleigh DL-1s-I was in town, fortunately. Since then I carry a spare.
