    Sunday's Show and Tell. ..2/22/15

bought an old mid eighties Gardin road bike. Made in the Toronto area its made of Columbus Zeta tubing and is equipped with Italian hardware pretty much everywhere. (Cambio Rino driveline, Modolo brakes etc.) The last owner swapped out the original rims as tubular tires just aren't any fun in...

    Old grouchy bike guy complaints

My Dutch Gazelle came with a set of those, they refer to them as coat guards... so I intend on leaving them on as they will protect my coat. nyaa nyaa nyaaaaaa.... Me... I don’t like people who can’t take a joke. unless they are pulling the joke on me, then I get right pissy. sorry... gotta...

What bike did you work on today?

A friend dropped off his wife’s Giant hybrid bike for a bit of wheel truing and a tune up. What a piece of... well... you know... the brown stuff. I checked on Giant’s website, this steaming heap currently costs about $800 CDN. No wonder I like the old stuff.

    Really excellent condition?

That was a trend... its the special quick change”drop out” stem. it came with a dental plan as well. I don’t think they sold well.

    1977 HD XLCR

The mailman just came and left me this months issue of Motorcycle Classics.... and dammit, there’s a one page article on the XLCR. There’s even a shot of what is claimed to be an original and unmolested example. It says they did a feature on it in the July/16 issue.

    1977 HD XLCR

An XLCR down the Dragon should be a proper wrestling match and would be a lot of fun. It’s rarity should open a few eyes at the watering hole as well. Have fun.

    1977 HD XLCR

Always loved that model. I started riding in 78 and have built a long string of cafe racers over the years so I had a weak spot for that look from day one. ( see my avatar! ) I always thought the CR deserved to do better, but its performance wasn’t up to cafe racer standards and those were the...

Give It Your Best Shot! (bike photography)

I'm hoping nobody will notice it has a motor... damn thing was almost slower than my bicycle anyway.

    Shimano scam

Oh how I love my Sturmey Archer stuff...

    Shimano scam

Is this a case of the parts not existing or a case of parts not being available because of the current world “shortage of everything” problem. I’d bet its the latter. Everybody in manufacturing is currently having supply problems, be it due to material shortages, personnel problems or...

    Correct terminology

BUSTED! Priceless! And I can’t even blame spellcheck. Now I’m going out to the garage to make some pedal components... hopefully I have the stoopididitty out of my system so I don’t end up wasting bronze.
