    Estate Sale Willow Springs, IL

Sure is a deal, because 30 years ago, Willow Springs was discovered by young computer pukes. Willow Springs claim to fame was Sante fe Speedway that was at 91st. and Wolf Roads. It was a half mile clay stock car track. I spent many Saturday and Sunday nights there in the 60's and 80's. South...

    Estate Sale Willow Springs, IL

Kim and Candy are selling this stuff????? that figures, as she lives close by. Candy and I have been friends for many years. She's an early bird and has beat me to many nice bikes and I've sold her many nice bikes. She's the only woman I know with a massive collection of balloon tire bikes.

Hawthorne flying H, what year and value?

    Estate Sale Willow Springs, IL

Not far from me, but the only good collectable thing I see are the R/R lanterns and the prices appear high. The younger guys might find some hidden BMX treasures. It looks to me like this guy bought lots of bikes from Goodwill/ Salvation Army. Wish they had a photo of this hoarder, I have...

    Clean Monark Yard Art

Nice lady a few houses down the street from me bought this original Monark for 20 bucks at a garage sale. Look closely.. . . The guard looks rusty, but it's really not. 2 small dings on top edge that would easily straighten out. Hard to find, rust free chrome spring supports under the saddle...

    Removing grips without destroying them.

For Schwinn grips, I use a 7/8 open end wrench. I'll place a small piece of electrical tape over the inside opening so I don't scratch the bar. Two, or three whacks with a hammer knocks them off. Haven't ruined any doing it like that.

The drawing board- propeller ideas DIY

Been putting toy airplanes on bikes for a while. This one's cast iron. Found this pot metal toy zeppelin bank in an antique. Thought it might look nice on a bike fender. The Erector Set Zep is too big. . .but a smaller version could easily be made into a tank.

    Show Crashing

Car shows are a great way to find old bikes. Folks that love old cars usually love antiques and anything old interests them, especially something with wheels. I have gotten several nice bikes at car shows, and because of car shows. I always tape a small note to the fender: WANTED--old bikes. I...

Dear 1937 True Hawthorne Zep Owners

You guys have inspired me with this thread. Always loved these old Snyder sweptback frames. I've had this one a long time and haven't done anything with it, except stick a springer on it. It's no Zep, but it's still pretty cool looking. It sports a heavy coat of brushed on black paint. I've...
