Special order: Super Deluxe Forks on a 1970 stingray????

I came across a 1970 Stingray with Super Deluxe Forks that the seller claims were special order from the dealer. What year were the S/D Forks disscontinued from production? Was this possible?

That makes perfect sense. A dealer back in the 70s just happen to have a nos S/D springer and installed it on this bike. I've read some where Schwinn never wasted parts.
