Bluffton

On Training Wheels
My father gave me this bike today. He found it a tiny thrift store. I know it’s a cranbrook, Huffy. I have the serial number. But one letter or number is so faded I can’t tell. Would like to start fixing her up and getting some parts for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting! :)

Can you tell us about the item sitting atop the Goldfish box?

Looks like it might be a backpacker's alcohol stove or perhaps some sort of vintage battery light?

Thank you.

Bluffton:
Here is what you should know:
  • Huffy Cranbrook is a low-price cruiser sold in discount stores
  • It is not expected to stand up well to hard use, but it is perfectly ridable
  • You can customize it any way you want with no guilt regarding destroying a potential museum piece
  • Parts from Cranbrooks can be useful for other bike projects
  • Taking it apart, maintaining it, putting it together, and painting parts all represent good experience for further projects
  • Pink rims are weird, but the overall effect of this bike is interesting (this is a personal, aesthetic opinion and may, and perhaps should, be ignored)
Most importantly, have fun messing around with bikes!

It’s not vintage, never will be a classic, but like others said it will be a good bike to learn about mechanics and how to maintain or rebuild a bike.
