It would depend on the model. Six and nine hole racks were used. A photo of the bike would help.
 
It is a Schwinn WZ. Schwinn modified to accept a Whizzer... The rack would not have been standard but rather an add on. Thanks.

After looking at catalog images in several Schwinn books it doesn't show any having a rack. So I guess a 6 or nine hole could have been added by a dealer. I, personally, would choose a 6 hole. But, it's your bike and your choice.
 
Six hole long with double supports for 48. The short carrier (Hornet, DX) with one support just doesn't look right to me. The four hole was seen on the Phantoms and some B6's. The rear holes were deleted for the new tail light .
