I live for the CABE
Early 1930’s Indian “j” serial number model 151 motorbike.

I’ve owned this bike for several years now. It’s taken many forms, with different parts as I’ve enjoyed it on many rides throughout Southern California over the years.

The short stem and truss rod mounted teacup light are correct for this model. There is an old braze repair at the head tube/down tube joint. It looks like it was done well and could be further radiused with a hand file for a cleaner appearance. It was discovered with red overspray on the original chainring and crankarms. I believe this Indian originally had the white scallops on fork and head tube. The paint was old but not original, with different shades of red, so I cleaned the frameset up a bit and lightly sanded and painted with red oxide. Ready for some distressed paint work.

The Indian badge is original. There is an extra hole where someone I think tried to tighten the badge against the head tube. It is not seen once the badge is in place.

It is possible that this was originally an equipped model. I fabricated a cigar tank that fits the frame perfectly, and features a removable cap as the original. I also added some fender aprons at the front to resemble the earlier models. These are not correct, but I thought they looked cool and so I added them.. but I think I’m changing my mind on them now. (They’re easily removed).

The Troxel saddle is in very good condition, rideable with no damage. I also serviced the headset and crank set bearings, and mounted modern 700C rims with clincher tires for practical riding and comfort. The Buyer will have their choice of these rims shown or original Clad wood type with solid rubber display tiles in good condition.

Enjoy the photos and message with any questions. Thanks!
(I have a sidecar also available for this bike in a separate ad)

$3800 bucks.

Great looking bike. I would not touch a thing. I would probably add a nice set of distressed Velocity Blunts and call it a day.
