Finally riding a big boys bike
Uncovered this badly deteriorated, corroded and rusted Schwinn Phantom chainguard and would like to salvage to the extent possible? Is it worth the effort? I do have a Phantom frame that is an unrestored rider for this guard, so their is a rideable Phantom bike awaiting my trials.

Soliciting CABE guidance/opinions on how best to tackle this project? Can you describe your process for successful salvage badly corroded parts? What solvents do you recommend? Any before, during or after pictures (worth 1000 typed words) are always appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Amazing! Thanks for the before and after Pics Rustystone, there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel!

make sure to remove all the grease and oil first before soaking . This is a water based cleaning method that works great on rust but not grease or oil.
