Here's another Ranchero I had when I was in my early 20s , 1979 new paint very nice running 400m ,and down in the dirt , this was after a Sunday swap meet down in San Luis obispo,Ca. With my Original middle weight Firestone 500 , that bike is in The Evolution of Bicycles vol.2 (I no longer own it)
My old 65 el Camino with 17 stingrays and a couple other muscle bikes in the bed. And again after it got painted and new wheels with the stingray I built for it. Sold it before I ever got to take it to a show with the new paint and matching bike.
Finally got a pic with it today, this might be my favorite truck in town. Not only are FJ40s extremely rare here in Iowa, this one is driven daily. I also love the color and patina, the multiple color panels remind me of the zany factory production Volkswagen Harlequin Golf.
I’ve offered to buy it but the ol guy is sticking to it. Fair enough, I’d just want it to ensure it’s future preservation exactly as it is. Sad, sad day when some dipsheet hick rattle cans it flat black, wood screws a LED light bar to it and runs it out of oil…
