Here’s my new spring/summer project I purchased on Friday… 1960 Varsity 8-speed (Sept b-date). This is the first 1960 Varsity I’ve seen come up for sale in the Twin Cities area in the last 5 years. Just cannot find many that are pre-64 anymore.

The Good: frame is in good shape (normal patina for a 62-1/2 year old bike), original Simplex suicide-shifter and front derailleur, original front and back rims/hubs (”Schwinn” on front, “Atom” on back), original Weinmann brake components, original stem and handlebars, original Stronglight chainrings.

The Not-so-Good… not original saddle (but it’s leather), front shifter missing white plastic knob, original 4-speed freewheel has been swapped out and pie-plate added, missing original rear derailleur, original pedals missing.
