Thanks, for the clarification.
I always thought 700c was equivalent to the old 28”x 1-1/2” size tires.

I'm not entirely sure about 28" x 1-1/2" but I have put a set of those tires on a set of ISO 622(29er) rims and the beads seated.... maybe a little high...I haven't laced the rear yet to be able to take them for a stress test ride.

The diameter of a 28" Single tube rim is very nearly exactly that of a 700c rim. It's when you get into "modern" 28" English Clincher rims that you see the larger diameter. This is a Velocity that I wood-grained, stacked on a 28" Single-tube rim. If it's not evident, they line up.

What tires are you running with these ?

I picked up an NOS set of 28" Phoenix tires (from the 80s I'm guessing) at Lebanon swap meet. This tire is pictured on a TNT M80 29er rim that is similar width as the Blunt 35, but it has a braking surface.
Schwalbe also makes their Century tires in different widths...I believe printed on the tire as 28 x 2.00, etc...

Hi,
Is there a reputable shop that has the silver 36h velocity blunt 700c rims in stock?
Also, are the se rims any good?
I am used to riding on rhino lights.
Both the velocity & se rims look closer to original.
Wondering how they hold up.
Thanks.
- Ted

You will break an antique bicycle frame before you break a blunt. SE being BMX oriented means their rims are likely explosion-proof.

I just got two pairs of the 36 hole SE J36U rims in the mail today. They are a little wider than the Blunt 35, but the profile is more round and the drilling offset from one hole to the next looks nicer than the Velocity in my opinion. Blunt 35s have a little flat spot around the inner circumference of the rim.

I took some measurements of stuff that I had on hand to get an idea of some of the widths of original singletube rims and their cross-sectional profile height. The entry for “44” is the SE rim.
