Epic 80 miles on the 'Cicli Vecchi' yesterday.
From Wallingford to the Cotswolds, and (almost) home.
Out riding with the Oxford section of the V-CC, heading for the hilly country to the West of the county.
I firstly rode the 4 miles to our starting point at the old milestone in Dorchester.....
...four of the guys in a typical West Oxfordshire lane, dry stone walls are the predominant landscape feature locally.....
Some of the other riders rides:
Higgins Ultralite tandem.....
...and, a Higgins Ultralite tricycle.....
Ian M's super rare 'Holmes of Welling' with the 3-speed fixed gear Sturmey Archer ASC hub.....
FGT admiring the remains of North Leigh windmill.....
...soon to be restored.
An eventful ride, using the Campagnolo 'Cambio Corsa' gear system is always interesting.....
...practice is still needed, and it was even harder with the saddlebag fitted!
I broke the nose of the saddle leather 20 miles in, we repaired/bodged it together to get me through the day though.
Then, not one but two punctured tubular (singletube) tyres late on.
This screw in the second replacement.....
...eventually put paid to the ride in Dorchester on the return and FGT thankfully gave me a ride home in his van.
All good fun!
