A bit more about the Steffey ignition and carburetor:

Here is the Lukenheimer mixer on my two stroke 1920’s engine (a bit small than the hit or mix engine type that are very similar). Everyone seems to call their bike’s 1901’s as serial numbers do not appear on the almost 30 year run of these so this issue is confused. Not a single “1901” example appears anything close to Steffey’s published water-cooled version above. I believe most of the air-cooled examples are 1904 and later; most are converted Spry motor-tractor engines as @bricycle has pointed out. On the bicycle version the exhaust pipe exit point is offset on the cylinder and case to clear the down tube per my example.
