Wow, an HR serial and built in 1981. What's the build date on the head badge? Was Bush around then saying no head tubes left behind?

The owner said he bought 4 of these for kids at Christmas.
he said none of his kids wanted the bikes. He said they sat
for years, gradually getting sold, stolen…this was the last one.

That stamped head tube sure sat in a bucket for a long time! That stamped head tube was made at the beginning of Schwinn's long struggle before the actual strike. Looks like the one cantilever bar was never finished, open hole at the end.
